Equine OPU-ICSI Training Course
Run in collaboration with Dr Carlos Pinto and Dr Chelsey Leisinger from Louisiana State University Veterinary School, this training course is designed to provide a foundation in the skills and techniques needed to establish a successful equine OPU-IVP laboratory, as well as optimising transferable blastocyst rates in existing laboratories.
Attendees will be trained in the techniques of equine Ovum Pick-up (OPU) and / or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) using the IVF Bioscience protocol and media suite. The course is comprised of two modules: OPU and ICSI.
Please note that only trained veterinarians will be able to participate in the OPU module.

Course Structure
Each day will start with a theoretical introduction before the hands-on sessions. Each module will last two days and attendees are not required to complete both modules.

Module 1 | OPU:
Theoretical session on mare preparation and physiology. Introduction to Ovum pick-up (OPU) and hands-on practice. |

Continued hands-on OPU practice. Oocyte handling, grading and manipulation. |
2 (PM) | Half Day 1 pm – 5 pm |
Module 2 | ICSI:
Theoretical session on oocyte maturation. Hands-on introduction to ICSI including gamete preparation and assessment, micromanipulator set-up and injection techniques. |

Module 2 | ICSI :
Continued ICSI practice. Evaluation of injected oocytes and theory on equine in vitro embryo culture. |
Continuing consultancy and advice for effective in-lab implementation is also available from IVF Bioscience to all attendees following completion of the course.
Course Price & Location Details
The course is made up of two modules; Ovum Pick-Up (OPU) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). The cost per module is $3,750 and if both modules are attended, the total course cost is available at a discounted price of $6,750. Attendees do not need to complete both modules.
The training facilities are located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. The training price includes all materials for the course and lunch each day. Attendees will need to fund their own travel, accommodation and additional meals.
